INTERNATIONAL LIFE CHAIN SUNDAY - 6 OCTOBER 2019

“For You created my innermost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb…my frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body…” Psalm 139:13 -16

    Life Begins at Conception
The sanctity of life is an essential article of the Christian Faith. The Bible makes it clear that life begins at conception (Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 44:2; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:41). The pre-born baby is then genetically, physiologically and organically a distinct person. At that moment life begins. At about three weeks after conception the baby’s heartbeat can be detected. Six weeks after conception the baby has its own lifelong brainwave.

    Life is Sacred
If the absence of a brainwave is considered the sign of death, why then is the presence of this brainwave not accepted as a confirmation of life? Birth is not a magical act that turns a non-human into a person. Birth is only a change in environment for a life that began many months before. Every abortion stops a beating heart. Every abortion ends a brainwave. Every abortion is the murder of a helpless and innocent human being. Life is Threatened

The most dangerous place in the world is not Iraq, Ukraine, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, or the Congo. The most dangerous place in the world is the womb. Pre-born babies are being killed in their mother’s wombs at a greater rate than any other section of society.

    Abortion Holocaust
A growing number of Christians worldwide are beginning to recognise the abortion holocaust as one of the greatest evils being committed in the world today. It is an urgent priority for the Church to expose, oppose and end this war against children made in the image of God.

“They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters…the land was desecrated by their blood.” Psalm 106:37-38

    Modern Day Child Sacrifice
Abortion is the modern equivalent of child sacrifice. Just as God’s people opposed Pharaoh’s decree to murder new born boys in Egypt (Exodus 1:15-22), so we need to protect pre-born babies from abortion today.

Just as King Herod sought to kill the babies in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16), so abortionists are attempting to butcher babies today.

    International Event
Sunday, 6 October, is International Life Chain Sunday. On previous Life Chain Sundays, up to one million Christians in over 1400 locations worldwide have stood for the right to life of pre-born babies. Will you be part of this great chain of Christian love and concern?

Life Chains have been held every year since 1987 in the USA and since 1992 in South Africa. Over one million, six hundred thousand (1,600,000) babies have been killed through abortion in South Africa since 1 February 1997 – legally.

    Stand for Life
The National March for Life (Durban) and Life Chains which will be held throughout the country, on 6 October, will be one of the positive and practical ways that we can stand up for the sanctity of life and speak up for the right to life of pre-born babies.

    Show You Care
We hope that you will show that you care by standing in a Life Chain in your city. If you are in, or near Cape Town, we certainly hope that you will make the time to join us at the entrance to the Waterfront, opposite the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Buitengracht Street, downtown Cape Town, on Sunday 6 October at 2:00pm.

We also trust that you will be able to encourage your church leaders to promote and pray for the National March for Life and Life Chains. Bring as many friends and family with you as possible.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Proverbs 31:8

    Speak Up for the Pre-born
Through these Life Chains we pray that God will enable us to reach:

    • Mothers who are considering abortion,
    • Medical personnel who must decide whether to participate in abortions or not,
    • Christians who need to consider volunteering to work at a Crisis Pregnancy Centre,
    • Pastors who need to preach on when life begins and how we are to love our pre-born neighbours,
    • Journalists who should present the other side of the abortion story,
    • Politicians who need to enact legislation to protect pre-born babies from the violence of abortion,
    • Lives that will be saved.

“If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength! Rescue those who are led away to death; hold back those staggering towards slaughter. If you say, but we knew nothing about this, does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done?” Proverbs 24:10 -12

NATIONAL & WESTERN CAPE ALLIANCE FOR LIFE CONFERENCES
    Saturday, 5 October 2019

Representatives from pro-life congregations and organisations in South Africa are invited to participate in the annual National Alliance for Life Conference which will be taking place on Saturday 5 October 2019, 9:00am – 13:00, at Gateway Church, Umhlanga. For those in the Cape who cannot participate in the NAL Conference, there will be the Western Cape Alliance for Life Conference also on Saturday, 5 October in Milnerton (see details below). The following day, Sunday 6 October 2019, there will be the National March for Life in Durban and the Life Chain in Cape Town.

Purpose of National Alliance for Life
The National Alliance for Life (NAL) is an umbrella body that was formed in 1995 and is the only body which represents all pro-life organizations and churches in South Africa. It was formed to create a platform for pro-lifers in South Africa to plan and act together. It purposely does not have a constitution so as to allow very loose, non-rigid associations, within which each organization and church group can maintain their own identity. The Western Cape Alliance for Life (WCAL) is the provincial arm of NAL.

    Purpose of the Conferences
This purpose of the conference is for pro-lifers to share ideas and experiences and to strategise together for the year that lies ahead. This is followed by the National March for Life/Life Chain the next day, Sunday 6 October, 14:00 -16:00. For more information about the Life Chain, click here.

If you would like to participate, or if you are aware of an individual, ministry or group that you think will benefit from the NAL/WCAL Conferences and should be invited to attend, you can submit your/their contact details to mail@dfl.org.za for the NAL and info@christianaction.org.za for the WCAL.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Proverbs 31:8

Guest Speaker at NAL Conference (Durban): Brad Mattes – Life Issues Institute, USA
Bradley Mattes (MAT-tis), MBS is president of Life Issues Institute, the pro-life grassroots partner of the Susan B. Anthony List Education Fund, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Its primary objective is to globally develop and disseminate effective pro-life educational material. For eight seasons, Brad was host and executive producer of Facing Life Head-On, a weekly pro-life TV program that was available to more than 100 million homes in the US and Canada. The program earned three Regional Emmy® awards and several other industry accolades before production ceased in 2015. For more info read: https://www.lifeissues.org/2016/01/bradley-mattes-mbs/

    ABOUT CONFERENCE

The African Home Education Conference is an inisiative of the Global Home Education Exchange (GHEX). Their mission is to advance, connect, and equip the global home education community in exercising the right to home educate.

The ability to choose home education is a right which is well-documented in international law.  Parents have the right to direct the education of their children. Each child has the right to receive an individualized education that best suits their needs and goals.

This concept cuts across cultures, methods, and beliefs. It exists regardless of motivation or methodology in home education. The GHEX are working to connect and inform the global education community—from policy makers to home education organizations, leaders, and families—through the use of technology, regional and global conferences, and moderated exchange of information.
