LIFE CHAINS - What Difference Can I Make?
- Prayer
Life Chains have been held every year since 1987 in the USA and since 1992 in South Africa. Over one million, eight hundred thousand (1,800,000) babies have been killed through abortion in South Africa since 1 February 1997, legally. We need national prayer that seeks God's mercy and forgiveness for the national sin of abortion. "If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land" 2 Chronicles 7:14
- Participate in an International Pro-Life Prayer Rally
Join together with tens of thousands of pro-lifers worldwide in prayer and action on this International Life Chain Sunday, 3 October, from 2pm to 4pm at the traffic island in Buitengracht Street, near the entrance to the Waterfront in Cape Town.
A Life Chain will also be held in Kempton Park on Saturday, 3 October, from 11am to 12:30 on the corner of CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street, by Festival Mall. For more information, contact Nico van Zyl, email: nicovanzyl@gmail.com.

- Speak Up
God's Word commands us to: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" Proverbs 31:8. With messages such as “Abortion Kills Babies”, “Abortion: One Heart Stops, Another Heart Breaks,” “Choose Life! So that you and your children may live,” and “Babies are a blessing,” "Adoption: Loving Option" Life Chain participants have informed millions of passing motorists and pedestrians, as they line the streets of their cities, large and small, across America, Canada, South Africa, Zambia and in other countries worldwide.
- Save Lives
Through these Life Chains we pray that God will enable us to reach:
- Mothers who are considering abortion,
- Medical personnel who must decide whether to participate in abortions or not,
- Christians who need to consider volunteering to work at a Crisis Pregnancy Centre,
- Pastors who need to be preaching on when life begins and how we are to love our pre-born neighbours,
- Journalists who should present the other side of the abortion story,
- Politicians who need to enact legislation to protect pre-born babies from the violence of abortion,
- Lives that will be saved.
“If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength! Rescue those who are led away to death; hold back those staggering towards slaughter. If you say, but we knew nothing about this, does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Will He not repay each person according to what he has done?” Proverbs 24:10-12
- Outreach
At the Cape Town Life Chain, we distribute thousands of pro-life leaflets and Gospel tracts to passing motorists and pedestrians. We trust the Lord has changed many minds and hearts as a result. “So shall My Word be that goes forth from My Mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
- Inform, Intercede and Inspire
Africa Christian Action’s placards provided at the Life Chain, have pro-life information and prayer points on the back for participants to engage in prayer, as they stand and silently proclaim the truth about abortion. "Wisdom calls aloud outside, she raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gate in the city, she speaks her words." Proverbs 1:20-21

The Life Chain is a family-friendly event, children are welcome. Those who have difficulty standing can bring folding chairs. Please also bring a hat and your water bottle.
