“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

“Out of Touch with Reality”
ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa's state of the nation speech 'SONA' has been described as “out of touch with reality,” “the wrong speech for the time,a “spectacular failure and lacking any solutions for the problems confronting us.

Evolutionary Revolutionary
Ramaphosa started by praising Nelson Mandela as "a Living embodiment of the resilience and courage of the South African people" and showed his evolutionary presuppositions by claiming "for nearly 40,000,000 years, an extraordinary ecosystem has existed here at the Southernmost tip of our continent."

Deforestation Leads to Droughts
Without acknowledging the destructive policies of his government in felling millions of trees in the Cape peninsula and the devastating effect of the resultant deforestation and drought, the president claimed that “at least once every twenty years” the fynbos vegetation needs to “burn at extremely high temperatures”, to allow the ecosystem to be rejuvenated and grow afresh, from desolation caused by such fires. He then applied that analogy to the “deadly pandemic that has swept the world.”

The Lockdown Has Actually Caused More Damage Than the Virus Has
Considering that the so-called pandemic has caused nowhere near as much destruction as the ANC government lockdown regulations have, devastating businesses and livelihoods, leaving millions unemployed, it seems somewhat disingenuous to blame a “pandemic” for the destruction of a corrupt and oppressive government.

How Can Destruction be Constructive?
The analogy also suggests that destructive wildfires are good for the ecology and therefore, destructive events such as the pandemic and lockdown can help “rejuvenate” the country?! As this wildfire, fynbos rejuvenation analogy both introduces SONA and concludes it, it is a disturbing insight into the thinking of those in government.

Constructive Chaos
Vladimir Lenin declared that evolution leads to revolution and one must never underestimate the value of "constructive chaos!” Those who hold to Darwinian evolution and the Big Bang theory, believe that order could have come out of chaos. If an explosion created everything in the world, then Social Darwinism suggests that, if we can just bring burn things down and blow enough things up, socialist utopia will arise from the ashes. ANC member, Allan Boesak proclaimed that very message in my hearing: "Out of the ashes of Pretoria will arise a new South Africa!"

Violence Is the Midwife for the Socialist State
Communists have been infatuated with violent revolution as a means to produce the globalised centralised totalitarian utopia which they believe will be the solution to all our problems. This certainly helps us understand the mentality behind the incredibly destructive and often irrational lockdown lunacy regulations, enforced on our longsuffering people in South Africa, in the name of combatting a virus from China.

Misdirected Energy
If only this ANC government would devote as much time and energy to fighting crime and violence as they do in their enforcing of people wearing masks and keeping people off beaches. Imagine what a great society and economy we would have if they would make combating corruption and crime as great a priority as enforcing masks and lockdown regulations!

Masks and Vaccinations are Their Priorities
In this SONA speech, Cyril Ramaphosa claimed that the greatest threat to our country is the Covid-19 virus. Our greatest need is to restrict movement and undertake a massive vaccination program.

Corruption is a Far Greater Threat Than any Corona Virus
Yet, for most people in this country, unemployment and crime are the greatest threats. The African Union reports that over 32% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Africa is stolen by government corruption!

Explosion of Unemployment Under ANC Policies
Over half of the total population of South Africa are either “unemployed, or “discouraged work-seekers, or “economically inactive. These three state categories all pretty much sound like unemployed to the rest of us. When Nelson Mandela became president in 1994, South Africa had over two million unemployed. Now we have approximately 30 million unemployed. That means that the ANC has added another million to the ranks of the unemployed for every year of its corrupt government. Every socialist regulation cripples the economy, penalises employers, discourages investment and chases away job creators.

The Missing Billions Were Also Missing from SONA
Ramaphosa's SONA did not deal with the R500 billion in Covid relief, which was looted by corrupt members of his government, nor how they plan to recover the stolen billions. Never were there any details of any of the culprits being prosecuted, or even fired from his administration.

Promises to Restore What they Destroyed
Ramaphosa spoke much of their plans to present an “economic reconstruction and recovery plan”, without recognising that there would be no need for economic reconstruction or a recovery plan if the government had not locked down the economy and murdered the livelihoods of so many millions of people.

When the Cure is Worse Than the Disease
Considering that the vast majority of people that test positive for Covid have no symptoms and are not ill and considering the fact that over 98% of those who fall ill through Covid recover, it is unclear why one needs to bring so much of the economy to a standstill and cause such massive disruption and devastation to the economy, for a disease that is so serious, you need a test to know if you have it and to promote a vaccine that apparently is so safe that they want to make it mandatory!

Why do Vaccine Producers Need Immunity from Liability?
The question needs to be asked why the vaccine producers have spent billions of dollars worldwide to lobby governments to indemnify themselves against any liability for adverse effects, including paralysis, blindness and death which anyone receiving the vaccine may suffer. In fact, there are medical professionals who have pointed out that you have far more chance of suffering death from the vaccine than from the virus.

A Failed State’s Delusions of Smart Cities and Bullet Trains
Yet, despite central government failing to keep the electricity supply constant and the water flowing, they are still talking about constructing smart cities and bullet trains! It would be nice if they could just maintain the infrastructure we have and plan ahead so that we do not have regular power failures and stop the looting and burning of thousands of delivery trucks and railway carriages.

The Greatest Threat
Government corruption, lawlessness, crime and violence are a vastly greater threat to the people of South Africa than any virus from Wuhan.

Hypocritical Racists
It all seems somewhat hypocritical for the ANC president to speak of "people of South Africa... let us march forward together to equality, to dignity and recovery," when his government has over 100 race-based laws, discriminating against minorities and requiring racial quotas, not only in the workplace but even in schools, colleges and on sports teams.

Destructive Double Standards
We would not need to be talking about marching forward towards recovery if the government did not continue to interfere with what they arrogantly call 'non-essential' businesses, which apparently includes churches. You can climb into a taxi and you can gather in a casino. Abortion facilities are essential services that must remain open. However, churches are “non-essential” and religious gatherings can be arbitrarily suspended by the state!

Every Business and Church is Essential for a Healthy Society
No business is non-essential, except perhaps most of the government. Every occupation is essential for that family and the clients that they serve. A healthy economy requires every part to play its role. No part of our body is not essential. You cannot have a healthy body if any parts of your organs are shut down.

Dishonest Empty Promises
Cyril Ramaphosa's SONA speech promises more of the same pious platitudes and disingenuous analogies, meaningless empty promises, focusing on distractions while ignoring the real, hard issues of government failure, colossal corruption and tyrannical interference in the economy, suppression of churches and everyday life of our society.

Justice, Mercy and Humility
South Africa needs freedom and justice. “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

The State of Our Country in The Light of God’s Law
If God was to give us a state of our nation, what issues do you think He would deal with? Well, if we yet evaluate the country in the light of God's Law:

Worship God Alone
Our leaders are too proud to bow before God in prayer at the beginning of parliament.

Do Not Bow Down to Idols
At state events our leaders have committed idolatry, worshipping other gods who are not God at all.

Honour the Lord’s Name
God's Name is routinely taken in vain on national television and in cinemas and this blasphemy is constitutionally protected and regarded as “entertainment.

Keep the Lord’s Day Holy
The Lord's day is desecrated every week. What God ordained as a day of rest and a day of worship is being commercialised and abused for the worship of pleasure.

Honour Your Father and Mother
Respect for parents and elders is being undermined everywhere, by the laws, entertainment industry and by the explosion of violent crimes against the elderly.

Do Not Murder
Every year over 20,000 people are murdered in South Africa and our justice system is failing to protect the citizens of this land. Most of the murderers who terrorise our people escape being brought to justice. In fact, so much of the laws seem to favour the rights of the criminals and all too often criminalise the victims. Up to 80,000 to 100,000 babies are killed each year, officially, legally, most with tax payer's money, through abortion.

South Africa must admit that we have the hypocrisy to claim to be a 'human rights society,' while denying the rights to pre-born babies. The right to life has been interpreted to protect guilty murderers from execution, but not protecting innocent babies from receiving the death penalty through abortion.

South Africa has become so calloused, careless and cruel as to allow babies to be poisoned, burned, dismembered, smothered, or strangled through abortion. As the Lord Jesus Christ declared; “Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.” Matthew 25:45

Do Not Commit Adultery
Selfishness, greed, selfishness, greed, covetousness and deception are pervasive and South Africa has become a nation infested with corruption and theft. The South African constitution entrenches the right to pornographers to exploit people made in the image of God for profit. To take what God has made to be Holy and perverted it, taking what God designed to be special and made it sordid, distorting what God intended to be private and developing it into a multi-million exploitative industry.

If We Want God to Heal our Land
"If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

If we want God to heal our land, we need Him to hear our prayers and He says that He will not do that unless we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways.

What is The Spiritual State of Your Soul?
As we are considering the spiritual state of the nation, what is the spiritual state of your soul? It is good to evaluate the spiritual state of our community and of our congregation in the light of God's Word. However, it must start with personal reflection, repentance, reformation and revival.

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perversity. No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty words and speak lies; they conceive evil and bring forth iniquity...

“They hatch vipers’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; he who eats of their eggs dies and from that which is crushed a viper breaks out. Their webs will not become garments, nor will they cover themselves with their works; their works are works of iniquity and the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they have not known and there is no justice in their ways; they have made themselves crooked paths; whoever takes that way shall not know peace...

“Therefore, justice is far from us, nor does righteousness overtake us; we look for light, but there is darkness! For brightness, but we walk in blackness! We grope for the wall like the blind and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as at twilight; we are as dead men in desolate places. We all growl like bears and moan sadly like doves…

“We look for justice, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before You and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us and as for our iniquities, we know them: In transgressing and lying against the Lord and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street and equity cannot enter. So, truth fails and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the Lord saw it and it displeased Him that there was no justice. Isaiah 59:1-15

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:5-9
